Crochet folk art

Crocheted figures on a hand-woven background. All the fiber is dyed with plants. Made by Granny Donaldson near Brasstown, North Carolina many years ago, my friend acquired it from the maker. Her inspiration was an Italian cow blanket used for festivals. Granny Donaldson is mentioned in Handicrafts of the Southern Highlands by Allen H. Eaton, originally published in 1937. This image came up as I was scanning my thousands of film negatives from the past, and I decided to share it.
