My favorite drink of the summer is “Mint Tea,” which is really a type of punch that my mother used to make.  I prefer to use the fresh leaves of a very strong peppermint plant, either Kentucky or Black.  Her recipe, which i often modify is below:

  1. Boil water in a large saucepan; turn it off. 

  2. Put in 4 family size tea bags and a big handful of chopped fresh mint leave; steep with lid on for 20 minutes.

  3. Strain the tea into another container and add 1 cup of sugar; stir til dissolved.

  4. Add a small can of lemonade concentrate and a small can of orange juice concentrate; stir til dissolved.

  5. Add enough water to make one gallon; refrigerate.
